Educational Workshops on Gear Rules

Educational Workshops Reef Fish Gear Rule/Catch and Release

These workshops will provide details about the new gear requirements for all anglers fishing for reef fish from a vessel in the Gulf of Mexico. These requirements are effective June 1, 2008 for state and federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico. At these workshops, a brief Power Point presentation explaining effective catch and release techniques, the new gear requirements for reef fish, descriptions of the gear and demonstrations of how to correctly use the gear will be presented. Examples of the required tackle, a variety of marine fisheries literature and other items will be available to workshop participants.

May 9 - Half Hitch Tackle, 2206 Thomas Drive, Panama City 3-5 PM, workshops every half hour

May 13 - Pensacola Recreational Fishermen's Association during their monthly meeting 6:30-9:00 PM*

May 15 - Advantage Marine, 2784 Coastal Highway, Medart, 6:30-8:00 PM

May 19 - Jerry's Bait and Tackle, 664 Woodville Highway, Crawfordville, 6:30-8:00 PM

May 29 - Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve, 261 Seventh Street Apalachicola, 1-3 PM and 6-8 PM

May 30 - Emerald Coast Reef Association monthly meeting, Valparaiso, 6-8 PM*

May 30 - Half Hitch Tackle, 621 Harbor Blvd. Destin, 9:00a-3:00p(CST)
